smoking & qutiing weed
What many people tend to forget
is that smoking is both a physical habit and a psychological habit. Many people
fail in their attempt to quit smoking because their methods only satisfy one or
the other. In addition, seeing as that we are social animals, it makes sense
that many of our habits end up making a comeback the minute we decide to go out
amongst our friends and public places where smoking tends to be all around. The
reasons to quit smoking are clearer than crystal, and the perks may have become
moot since you took your first puff. Unfortunately, because everyone is
different, no one really tells you how hard it is when you start.
There are many different methods
people use in order to quit smoking. While it may seem hopeless and trying to
be patient with yourself seems impossible, the trick is finding what methods
are right for you, and you alone. Some methods include:
Quitting smoking cold turkey: You
may think this seems like the most simple, and it obviously won’t work so why
is this still a method? Well, to more people than you may think, this method
does work. If you are able to find an activity or substitute habit for smoking,
getting over that hump to no longer be an addict may be easier than you ever
dreamed.
Lowering the number of cigarettes
you smoke daily/Reducing your nicotine intake gradually overtime: It is advised
that this is a method only for those with fairly good self-control. It is a
slippery slope to allow yourself some satisfaction and limit it when you are
facing an addiction.
Using nicotine
supplements/prescribed and herbal remedies: There are thousands of different
supplements or nicotine replacement patches, gum, candy, etc. The invention of
the electronic cigaretteor disposable e cig, is a tobacco free cigarette and
enables smokers to get both the oral fixation and nicotine fix that one gets
from a cigarette, without many of the negative effects of smoking.
Using nicotine support groups: It
is often underestimated the power of peer reinforcement when trying to control
an addiction. Especially for social people, this can be a beneficial way to
meet people who are in the same boat as you. Many people fail to rid the habit
largely because the people they are around have no interest in quitting. While
this doesn’t mean you need to lose your friends, it may help to be around other
people who can empathize with you until you’re over that addiction hump.
Hypnosis, acupuncture, or
counseling using cognitive behavioral techniques: The techniques cater to the
psychological aspects of smoking. For many, this is really the help they need
to finally be able to quit. Many smoke purely out of habit, many socially
smoke, because it is something they feel they need to do. It is the action more
than the effect that satisfies them, and for that, these methods prove to be
successful.
As you can see, there are many
different methods out there catered to helping you kick that habit for good. If
it is purely mental you may be able to help rid yourself by a few counseling sessions
or group therapy. If it is physical, medications, gum or patches are out there
by the hundreds ready to help you out. If it is a little bit of both, there are
other alternatives out there like the electronic cigarette, which can
substitute the cancer stick. Whatever you feel is right for you, take full
advantage of what is out there, and finally quit those cancer sticks today!
If you are one of millions trying to find a way
to successfully quit smoking you should try an electronic cigarette as a substitution.
